A Place to Bury Strangers are a New York noise-rock band formed in 2002 and led by Oliver Ackermann, who also founded the effects-pedal company Death By Audio. Their music brings together shoegaze, post-punk and dense layers of distortion. Releases including 'Exploding Head' (2009), 'Worship' (2012) and 'See Through You' (2022) document the project's shifting line-ups and sustained focus on volume, texture and physical performance.
During a European tour in 2011, A Place to Bury Strangers stopped at Sidecar in Barcelona. “Dead Beat” captures the band's dense blend of noise rock and shoegaze on the venue's small stage.
