Don The Tiger is the solo project of Adrián de Alfonso, a long-time presence in Barcelona's underground and a nomadic guitarist who has played with Lydia Lunch, Mark Cunningham, Robert Forster and Carla Bozulich. Relocated to Berlin, he mixes rumba, MPB, guabina, flamenco and Fania Records with musique concrète and elaborate sampling, delivered in a way that owes more to primitive rock'n'roll than to anything else. His album 'Matanzas' (Crammed Discs, 2018) was co-produced with Lucrecia Dalt.
We visited Adrián de Alfonso's rehearsal room while he was preparing Matanzas (Crammed Discs, 2019). The resulting short documentary closes with a performance of “Cantos al Aral Menguante,” filmed at Castalian Spring in Berlin.
